Our mission
Unauthorized practice of law is one of the most common — and most damaging — consumer scams in the country. Notarios, disbarred attorneys, AI "lawyer" apps, tax-relief mills, and doc-prep operators take billions of dollars from people every year, and most victims never learn they can recover it. We built FakeLawyerReport to fix that. Our goal is simple: make it obvious, fast, and free for anyone who was harmed by a non-lawyer to find the right help.
Who we are
FakeLawyerReport is operated by Javitch Law Office, a California-licensed law firm in San Mateo (3 East 3rd Ave., Suite 200, San Mateo, CA 94401). The site is written and reviewed by our in-house editorial team in consultation with licensed attorneys who handle UPL and consumer-protection matters across the country.
How we produce content
Every article on FakeLawyerReport is grounded in the actual UPL statute of the state it covers, current state-bar rules, and the federal consumer-protection framework. Statutes and citations are checked against the primary source before publication. When laws change, we update the affected pages and refresh the "Reviewed" date at the top.
Read our full editorial standards for how we source, review, and correct content.
What we don't do
- We don't give legal advice on the site or by email.
- We don't create an attorney-client relationship when you submit a case. That happens only after a licensed attorney reviews your matter and both of you sign an engagement.
- We don't charge victims for a review.
- We don't sell your personal information. Case submissions are shared only with the attorney reviewing your matter.
